APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Applications can follow the guidelines below:

1) A description of the project.

2) Commitment to social justice and/or community building:
a) description of how the project includes/embraces social justice/community building. b) description of the ways in which the project will reach the wider community.
c) collaborators on the project.
d) alignment to Unitarian Universalism values

3) Funding: As we build the fund, we anticipate supporting projects with grants in the range of $1000 - $2500.
a) Budget for the project.
b) Additional funding sources.

4) Reporting:
a) Annual report to the JPLF committee.

Purpose of the Fund: To distribute funds for collaborative projects focused on social justice and  community building that aim to influence the wider community.  


Requirements:  


Potential projects would: 


Focus on social justice and/or community building. 


Aim to influence the wider community. 


Promote interfaith, intercultural, community collaboration and awareness. 


Align with UU principles & values* 


Scope of the Project:  


Examples of projects that might receive funding could include though are not limited to: 
Attending a training or gathering information regarding possible community collaborations.
Creation of a social justice song book for use by Canadian UU congregations and communities.
Creation of a cross cultural and/or interfaith social justice choir. 


A choral evening that lifts up awareness and inclusion. 


Commissioning a musical piece or creating a collaborative performance. 


Selection Process:  


The committee accepts applications for grants at any time. The initial review of projects will be of those  received by June 1, 2025. The Committee evaluates the projects based on: 


Alignment with the Fund requirements, 


The merits of the proposal, and,

SELECTION PROCESS:  


JPLF Committee reviews all applications and makes awards based on their merits. Depending on the total  amount of funds available and number of applicants, individual awards may be less than the full amount  requested.  


Award recipients are asked to send a report on their project to the JPLF Committee within 30 days of  completion or an annual statement of what has been achieved to date, a financial statement indicating  how the award money was used, and the influence of the project on social justice and/or community  building. The JPLF Committee will provide a report to the Annual General Meeting of Calgary Unitarians.
